The book I am currently reading is Dingo. I have only gotten about ten pages into the book but the main character seems to have a lot of problems at home. When Zack gets home late at night(9:15 pm), his step mom won’t let him in the house so he has to spend the night at his friend’s barn. My favorite book I have read this year is Gregor the Overlander. I enjoyed this book because the author (Suzane Collins) really makes it feel as though there is really an underworld under New York City. I also liked this book because there is a lot of action, adventure, and fights.
Favorite book and current book
Right now I am ready a book called Double Identity by Margaret Peterson Haddix. I just started it but so far its really good. Its about this girl Bethany and one day her parents take her on a “trip” but don’t tell her where their going. They pull up to a house, and her dad gets out if the car. When he gets back he tells Bethany he will be staying with her “aunt” Myrlie. Bethany didn’t even know she had a aunt until now. Her dad gets her suitcase out of the car, and says not to worry, that she’s safer there and then leaves.. I have a lot of favorite books.. But one of my all time favorite is Twenty boy summer and The Maze Runner. Their both completely different books. Twenty Boy Summer is a romance about a teenage girl and how she deals with the lose of her “boyfriend” and the Maze Runner is an adventures book about a boy named Thomas who wakes up one day in a place called the “Glade” and doesn’t remember how or when he got their. But even though their completely different, their both my favorite books.
favorite book and current book.
my favorite book of all times is the diary of a part time indian. this book is my favorite book because i don’t like to read but this book encouraged me to read. his book was a page turner because it was about this kid who is poor and doesn’t ave much. The author makes this book seem like a comedy.
my current book i am reading now is “A Monster Calls” this book is a good well wrten book and has a lot of detail in it. i like this book because it is well written
Favorite Book and Current Book
Favorite Book and Current Book
1. My favorite book of the year so far is Eragon. I am not completely done with this book but it is by far my favorite book of the year. The language that the author uses just keeps me interested even if it is not an interesting part at all. The author uses so much descriptive language. I think this book really represents the genre of fantasy well. If you like fantasy books you have to read this book.
2. I am currently reading The Red Pyramid. This book is also turning out to be a good book as well. I am not far at all in this book but it already seems interesting. I like this book because they really put out all of the information and story in the beginning. Except for some details. They really keep you hung up on trying to find theses couple of out that keep you preoccupied while reading.
” Shelter ” and ” To Kill A Mockingbird “
1. Mickey Bolitar’s year can’t get much worse. After witnessing his father’s death and sending his mom to rehab, he’s forced to live with his estranged Uncle Myron and switch high schools.
A new school comes with new friends and new enemies, and lucky for Mickey, it also comes with a great new girlfriend, Ashley. For awhile, it seems like Mickey’s train-wreck of a life is finally improving — until Ashley vanishes without a trace. Unwilling to let another person walk out of his life, Mickey follows Ashley’s trail into a seedy underworld that reveals that this seemingly sweet, shy girl isn’t who she claimed to be. And neither was Mickey’s father. Soon, Mickey learns about a conspiracy so shocking that it makes high school drama seem like a luxury – and leaves him questioning everything about the life he thought he knew.
2. My most favorite book that I’ve read all year would have to be To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee. This novel is really mind opening and can teach you a lot about how many different struggles one girl, Scout, can go through in a life time. To Kill a Mockingbird is a coming-of-age story of Scout Finch and her brother, Jem, in 1930′s Alabama. Through their neighborhood meanderings and the example of their father, they grow to understand that the world isn’t always fair and that prejudice is a very real aspect of their world no matter how subtle it seems. Scout and Jem’s God-like father, Atticus, is a respected and upstanding lawyer in small Maycomb County. When he takes on a case that pits innocent, black Tom Robinson against two dishonest white people, Atticus knows that he will lose, but he has to defend the man or he can’t live with himself. The case is the biggest thing to hit Maycomb County in years and it turns the whole town against Atticus, or so it seems. Scout and Jem are forced to bear the slurs against their father and watch with shock and disillusionment as their fellow townspeople convict an obviously innocent man because of his race. This novel has many controversial sides on racism and unwanted rights. It’s a wonderful read that will change your life.
Books this Year
I am currently reading A Million Little Pieces by James Frey which is a great book about drug addictions. I have enjoyed reading this book a lot because I find it very interesting to see the progression of dealing with an addiction. I think the author really describes the situation well. You feel really bad for the main character and want him to succeed. I would definitely recommend this book to a friend.
My favorite book I have read all year is It’s Kind of A Funny Story by Ned Vizzini. Not only is this book my favorite book I have read all year it is also probably my favorite book I have read ever. It is about a teenager named Craig who is seriously depressed and wants to kill himself. He gets checked in to a hospital and realizes he isn’t so strange after all. Craig meets some very interesting people along the way that all help him recover. This book is amazing and I would recommend it to anyone!
Skeleton creek and Diary of a whimpy kid
The book i’m reading is skeleton creek. I think overall its a pretty good book. Its suppose to be scary but its really no scary at all. But on a scale of 1-10 I think its probably like a 7 or a 8. But my favorite book so far this school year I think its Diary of a whimpy kid. I liked it because it was halirious and I really enjoyed it. I would be intersted in reading a nother one of the books in this series. I also liked the characters they were pretty chill.
I Know What You Did Last Summer
I just finished the book “I Know What You Did Last Summer.” I though it was going to be a really bad book when I started reading because it is an old book and i watched the movie about 4 years ago and it was not my favorite horror movie being 10 and all…The good thing is the book is nothing like the movie. I Know What You Did Last Summer is about four teenagers that run over a little boy on a bike and never stop to help knowing they killed him. Now one year later there is somebody out there that knows what happened last summer and wants the people that are responsible dead. The genres I have been reading this year and most likely forever is fiction teen drama books.
The Underdogs
” Skeleton Creek” and ” Twenty Boy Summer”
I am reading Skeleton Creek. I really like it. It is about this two kids Ryan and Sarah. They are best friends. They are stuck in a small town mystery. They live in a town named Skeleton Creek. There is a dredge in Skeleton Creek that interests them. They go to the dredge one night. Ryan fell and broke his leg.
Twenty boy summer was the best book ever! I liked it the most this year because it was just so amazing. All girls should read this book. It’s very realistic. I would read this book over and over again.
“Beautiful Disaster” and ” Out of My Mind”
1.The book I am reading right now is Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire. So far I am LOVING this book. I literally can not out it down. Beautiful Disaster is a wonderfully written love story of the goodie-two-shoes and bad boy. It’s not a girly love story though, and it is hysterically funny. I love this book because of the twists and turns, and verity of genres all mixed into one, beautiful book. I can NOT wait to start reading again!(:
2. My favorite book I have read this year is Out of My Mind by Sharon M. Draper. This was my favorite book because of the touching moments and the funny ones. It’s interesting to see life in perpective of an 11 year old girl with cerebral palsy. She has so many opinons only the reader will ever know. That is why this is my favorite book I have read so far this year.
My New Book
The new book i’m reading is called Ship Breaker. This book is about a boy named Nailer. Nailer works on a salvage crew to gather copper. So far in the book he was forced to work as fast as he could. But while he was working the duct he was in broke and he fell into an oil tank. One of his crew members found him but didn’t help him . When it all seemed like it was over he broke open a door and got onto the shore line only to find out he had a shard of metal in him.
Percy Jackson: The Battle Of The Labyrinth
1) The book I am reading as of now is the forth book in the Percy Jackson series. The book is call Percy Jackson: The Battle Of The Labyrinth. I think this book is one of the best books I have read and is a page turner. I think this because every chapter is like another action packed story! If Percy is not fighting monstors than he is saving his friends. Or being the hero andmaking it through the Labrnth. I think this book is amazing because it not only hs action, adventure and humor. It has science fiction witch is my favorite genre.
2) What i have enjoined reading the most this yeasr is this seriouse. So far i have read The seconed book, The sea of monstors, the third book, the Titans Curse and this book, The battle of the Labyrinth, witch im in the middle of now.
“Unwind” and “Beautiful Creatures”
1. The book I’m reading right now is “Unwind” by Neal Shusterman. I am not very far into this book, but so far it is very interesting. Connor is a trouble maker and causes his parents lots of trouble. Three weeks ago he found out that his parents are unwinding him. His parents don’t know that he has found out. Unwinding is very common in Connors world. Instead of abortion, when your child is between the ages of 13 and 18, you have the choice to “unwind” them. If you are unwound, you get taken to a juvenile delinquent jail, where they remove your vital organs, arms legs, eyes, and anything else that people need. Then, they are given to people that have been in car accidents, or have a major disease, or need an eye.
I like this book because abortion is a big deal these days. There are pro-life and pro-choice groups that try to stop abortion or tell people that it is their own choice. If you really think about it, you could imagine a second Civil War breaking out, which is what happened in this book. I think the author gives vivid explanations and great insight in what the world would be like if we keep fighting over these things. My imagination can really run wild with this book.
2. My favorite book that I read this year was “Beautiful Creatures” by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl. It was full of mystery and twists that you would never expect. There are four books in the series, and usually I don’t enjoy the second, third, etc., but right now I’m reading the second book “Beautiful Darkness” and it is just as good!
Black Duck and The Sea of Monsters
The book that I am currently reading is Black Duck by Janet Taylor Lisle. The main characters in this book are David an eighth grader, Ruben Hart an old man who was suspected to be connected to the smuggling of liquor during the prohibition era, were liquor was illegal, and Jeddy, Rubens friend. Now this book is written in third person so it is a little tricky the way that it is written. So David is trying to find out if Ruben was actually in the smuggling of Liquor by telling Ruben that he is a senior in high school and needs a story to try and get a job for the paper. So Ruben ends up telling David the story of how him and Jeddy found a dead body.
The book that I have most enjoyed reading this year is the Sea of Monsters by Rick Riordan. I liked this book because it had a lot of action and was very well written.
Crossed
The book I’m currently reading is Crossed which is the sequel to the book Matched. So far I think this book is interesting. I’m about half way through it and I think it’s been good so far. I think that the Matched series is realllllly similar to the Hunger Games but not as good. I think that Matched and Crossed don’t really have a defined problem and that they’re not as strong a series as the Hunger Games. However I still find them to be good books and an easy read even if they are pretty long. My favorite book that I have read so far this year would have to be a three way tie between It’s Kind of A Funny Story, Shine, and the book I just recently read which is Beautiful Disaster. It’s Kind of a Funny Story was an incredibly funny book, Shine was written beautifully and has to be one of the best mystery books I have ever read, and Beautiful Disaster was just that, a beautiful disaster of a book! But of all the three I have to say Shine was the most touching of all these books. But Beautiful Disaster was the best love story!
Magyk
Wait Till Hellen Comes
1) I just started a book called Wait Till Hellen Comes. So far it is a good book. It is about a brother and sister, and their their younger stepsister Heather. Their parents decided to move to a curch. What they dont know is that in back of their new home there is a grave yard… This book is a goast story and if you are looking for a short and easy book to read this is a suggestion.
2) If i had to pick a book that is my favorite book of this year i would pick Gone.. ya
The Twisted Window and Favorite book this year
The book i’m reading right now is The Twisted Window by Lois Duncan. This book so far has been okay, there’s up and downs to it. One good thing about is that you can think a lot of questions for it, it always keeps you thinking. An example of this is when Tracy’s talking to Gavin’s roommate trying to figure out if he really did kidnap Brad’s sister. Also one of the downs is how the author narrates the book. I don’t like this because you can’t really get into the characters mind if the author is telling it from his perspective.
One of my favorite books iv’e read this year would have to be Forever because it was the last book in its sequal, but even thought it didn’t answer all the questions i wanted answerd it pretty much wrapped up the story.
MY fav book/ book im reading
“Don’t Look Behind You” and Favorite Book
The book that I just started is “Don’t Look Behind You” by Lois Duncan. I just started this book but it is about a girl named April and her family. April is a seventeen year old with a seemingly normal life. She loves to play tennis, has a little brother, and her dad works at Southwest Airlines. Or, thats what April and her family thought. They get a rude awakening one day when April is pulled out of school by her grandmother, told to pack her things, and get in a black Suburban. It turns out, April’s father has been working for the FBI, and he has been on trial for a drug scandal for weeks now. Someone has already tried to kill him, and April, her mom, and her little brother Bram, are forced to go into hiding. April finds out that death threats are being aimed at her father, and worse, some are pointed at April, Bram and their mom.. April and her family aren’t safe, and it doesn’t look like they will be getting their lives back soon.
My favorite book that I have read this year would have to be a book that I just finished “Beautiful Creatures”. Sam recommend this book to me, and I loved it. It has romance, mystery, fantasy, and horror all in this book! Worth the read
Steve Jobs and Inheritance
The book I am reading right now is Steve Jobs by Walter Isaacson. Steve Jobs is a very good book. It is informative, yet interesting. It isn’t boring, yet it says what it is supposed to say. My favorite part about this book is that it is a true representation of Jobs’ life. it isn’t romanticized, nor does is depict him as a terrible person. When reading this book, you get a sense that it is true and un-supplemented, which is a refreshing break from all the inaccurate portrayals of famous people based on political views and rumors. This is a very good book, even for those (such as me) who aren’t very fond of nonfiction.
The best book I read this year would have to be Inheritance by Christopher Paolini. Inheritance was action-packed, full of twists and turns, and it was an excellent end to the Inheritance Cycle. Granted, this book really wouldn’t make much sense if you hadn’t read the rest of the series, but that just made the book better. One of the best parts of the Inheritance Cycle is that the world, (Alagaesia), where it takes place is completely different from our world, but it has a full history, and it doesn’t have loose ends, except for the few that were put in deliberately to allow for more sequels. Even so, it is amazing how thorough the author was with this book. If you like action/adventure or fantasy books, then this is the book for you.
“The Help” and “Maximum Ride”
1.) Right now, I am reading “The Help, and I’m almost done with it. I really like this book, and I think it is informational, as well as interesting. At the beginning, I will admit that it was a little boring, but now it is not at all! The writer really puts you into the story, you feel like you know the characters personally.
2.) My favorite book I have read this year, would probably be “Maximum Ride, The Angel Experiment”. This is because it was different from the books that i would normally read, and I could not put it down! The plot is so suspenseful, and keeps you wanting to read more. I finished this book in two days, I believe and I want to read the other books in the series.
The Roar
The book i am reading right now is called “The Roar”. This book has a lot to it. I can’t realy relate to any of it. I’ve never actually “enjoyed” a book and this ones no exception. Its is however different from any other book i’ve read. There is a lot of information that is told throughout the book that you have to keep logged in your head to understand even the smallest parts of the story. In the beginning it seems like two different books but then as the story progresses the two stories begin to fit together and it gets a little easier to understand. Its not difficult to read but you have to understand certain things about how a story is written to know how to read it and understand it well enough to not get frustrated. Some people might find it hard to read. I think its pretty well written for a book of that size.
“The Hunger Games” and “Romeo and Juliet”
My book that I am reading right now is called the Hunger Games. It’s about a girl named Katniss, who has just been picked for her districts’ Hunger Games trial. The Hunger Games is where you get picked to go in an arena and fight other people who got picked. I love this book so far because there is so much drama of how Peeta loves Katniss but Katniss doesn’t really know if she loves him yet because they are in an arena fighting to the death. Peeta at so many times has fought for peeta and gotten injured. He keeps expressing his love for her but she just doesn’t know how to take it. I also love this book because of the action in it. How they have to fight in the arena and try and get all the supplies that they need. Katniss hasn’t encountered Peeta or anyone yet, since the Cornicopia, but I have feeling that it is going to happn soon. My most favorite book that I have read so far is Romeo and Juliet. I just love all the romance and tragedies that are in that book. That is the book I am reading and my favorite book.
Saddle Club summer horse
I am reading a Saddle Club Book about how Carole is riding a terrible horse named Ditto. She strongly dis liked this horse. That only made her miss her horse Starlight more. This book is stupendous and I love it more than any book that I have ever read. I can connect to Carole because I rode a terrible horse once too. I have enjoyed reading books about horses the past few months.
Homework 1/26/12
“A Monster calls”
Ms. Lambaucher book talked this book and it reminded me of my buddy Connor. Some of the ways that the book reminded me of him was because the boy’s name is Connor and my friend’s name is Connor too. Another way it remindes me of Connor is that the book takes place in Ireland and Connor is from there. They are both thirteen. The boy in the book spells his name with only one n and my friend spells his name with two n’s. I am only ten pages into this book and I’m still looking for similarities.
Assassin’s Creed: The Secret Crusade
I don’t really have a strong connection to this book, but I do have some connections with it. I have some connections with the main characters, Altair. He is a man who stands up and fights for what he believes in. Even when the odds are all against him, he tries and most of the times he succeeds. He has lost many friends along the way, but at the end he got what he wanted and accomplished something greater than what he could comprehend.
Shadow Horse by Alison Hart
I can somewhat make a connection with this book because the in this book Whirlwind a horse sopusedly dies but Jasmine thinks she died after being posined with yew which is deadly to horses and she thinks the owner killed her, but I can relate to this in a tv show I saw where the horse ate oliander thats posinus to horses, but the horse lived.
Connection
The Legend of Bass Reeves by Gary Paulsen
The connection I have with this book is that Bass hunts for food and I also hunt. He lived over one hundred years ago and made things like a spear to hunt a wild pig. He also made something he called a “Jesus Stick” to trap animals by pinning them to the ground. He made it by cutting two wild willow sticks, sharpened them and then tied them together. They were shaped like a cross. He would throw it, and it would pin the animal to the ground so he could kill it. He had to do things this way because his “Boss” didn’t let him have a gun because he was a slave.
My Connection with Skeleton Creek, Austin C
Ball Dont Lie. Connections
The book Ball Dont Lie is very easy for me to make a lot of connections with because the main points of the book are about basketball and about girls. I can relate to all the hard work that the main character Sticky puts into his basketball game and i also can respect how he wants to become a proffesional ballplayer when he grows up more then anything. Then secondly i can relate to him dealing with his girlfriend and also trying to make sure he stays sharp on his basketball game.
Skeleton Creek
There are not a lot of connections that I can make. It turns out that there are really only three or four. The one good connection that I can make is about wear I live and wear Ryan lives. The connection that I make is that Ryan said that It gets really dark were he lives, there are no street lights, the woods is even darker, and if the moon is not shinning it’s completely dark. It’s the same were I live. Out here on chappy, There are no street lights, it gets dark, and with out the moon you can’t see two feet in front of your face. I can understand how Ryan likes the quietness but thinks it is hard to deal with sometimes.
“The Hunger Games”: Connection
Connections with The Hunger Games are pretty easy to find. Katnis is going through a really hard time when she goes into a whole new area where she only knows one person who she is not that close with. A time that I have been in one for those situations, were most of the rehearsals. When I didn’t know anyone at all. It was hard because I didn’t know anything that they were going to throw at me, how hard the dance wad going to be, or how hard the song was going to be either. Katnis is feeling this now because she won’t know how good at fighting everyone is until they are actually in the arena. I think at in a lot of ways The Hunger Games book and my life are the same and different. Another one is she is always looking out for others, and I feel like I try to care and look out for others as much as I can.
You Have Seven Messages – Connection
The book that I’m reading right now is called You Have Seven Messages. This book reminds me in a way of the book Shine by Lauren Myracle that I recently read. I can connect the main character of this book which is Luna with the main character from Shine which is Cat. I can make this connection between the two of them because they’re both going through the same sort of situation where someone they love has been seriously hurt or killed and they are trying to find out who did this to them. But along the way they learn that maybe this person’s accident wasn’t that accidental and maybe that person was asking for it/deserved it from the perspective of someone else who may have gotten into trouble due to that person. This book though the You Have Seven Messages isn’t anywhere near as dark as Shine though but it still seems to be pretty good… So far.
Skeleton Creek
I can make connections to the character in the book because he is not a dare devil like his friend. I’m not either when it comes to thing like looking for ghosts or haunted house either. But I do like mysterys so thats another thing we. I like this character because he a great writer and I am no where close to as good as he is sthere is something that we don’t have in common. I enjoy this book and I enjoy the characters because they remind me of some kids in our grade. That is my book thanks .
Connections- Sea of Monsters
The connections that I can make between the Sea of Monsters and real life is that when he is at camp he does a lot of fun thing that maybe you wouldn’t be able to do in other places, and since we all live on the Vineyard we can relate to it. Some of the things that are included in that are when Percy and Annabeth are on the ship ” this is not when they are at camp” because if you live in the middle of the city you won’t get many chances to go sailing but that is one thing that you can do down here. This is one of the only connections besides when in camp and running through the woods because in most of the book they are running around killing monsters and you can’t really kill monsters here.
The Tale of Despereaux
I have just finished reading The Tale of Despereaux and I can make some connections between the book and my life. I think that I can relate to Despereaux because he was courageous and felt that even though he did not fit the standards of a normal mouse, he still thought that he could be a hero. I guess that I can relate in the way that I might not be the person everyone wants me to be, but I can still make a difference. Also Despereaux reminds me of famous people that probably did not fit in society, but were not ashamed and really made a difference that impacted the lives of people today. I thought that The Tale of Despereaux was a good story and everyone can in some way relate to this book.
Gone connections.
I recently finished a book called Gone by Michael Grant. Honestly, this was a really riveting book and it’s a real page turner. As well there’s always a good grabber in the last sentence of each chapter, you should pick up the book sometime and read at least the first ten pages and you’ll definitely be hooked. All the characters have their own unique personalities but I think I could connect most with is Mary. She is the oldest sibling out of her family(her and her younger brother) and as well like me she has to watch out for her brother. Mary has to take charge and watch out for others as well. She’s as well intelligent, giving, caring, supportive of others and usually the leader of the group besides her close friend(the other main character) Sam. She has such a poise personality and I have been told such the same. And she sometimes feels disconnected from the work and like she feels like she can’t get through to others because they don’t understand what she goes through and what her life is like. I feel the same way most times due to the struggles and difficult things that’ve happened to me and my family. I really do feel a strong bond and connection between me and Mary.
Connections- A Million Little Pieces
I am reading A Million Little Pieces by James Frey. It is a great book so far! It is about a young man with a very serious addiction. He is forced to go to a rehab hospital. I personally cannot really connect with this story at all because I have never done drugs or been to a drug abuse rehab facility. But I can connect this book to another book I have read. The book is called It’s Kind of A Funny Story by Ned Vizzini. These two books have a lot in common! They are both about having to stay in the hospital for a while because of personal issues. In both books both main characters meet some very interesting people that help them get well. Also in both of these books the main characters go to get help. These two books have lots more in common too! These are the connection I have made.
Connections with “What Happened To Goodbye”
The book i just started is “What Happened to Goodbye” by Sarah Dessen. I have read all of Sarah Dessens other books, and she uses formula writing. Her books are always about a girl who doesn’t fit in or has to move somewhere new, and doesn’t really know how to belong and then some guy comes along and helps her find herself. I think a lot of girls make this there fairytale ending, so a lot of girls can relate to this. I think you always dream of finding you Prince Charming, and all Sarah Dessen does here is describe that in many scenarios. I can relate this to many romantic movies, an example “The Last Song”. I think many teenage girls love these books because this is exactly what they are wishing will happen to them someday.
Percy Jackson: The Titans Curse
The are a few connections with this book to my life. The connection is there was this amazing movie i have seen recently ” The Imortals” witch was quite similar to this book. They both have greek mythology about the gods and they both have a hero. Also the book is about a teenage boy as the main character just like me since im a teenage boy aswell!
Life As We Knew It- Connection
Right now Im reading “Life As We Know It” and I cant really make a connection to my personal life. But I can relate to how Miranda feels about the whole problem. Shes really scared and the schools are shut down so she has nothing to do to keep her mind off of everything, so she starts swimming at the lake with her swim team. And I can relate to that because I know when Im scared about something, I do something I love to get it off my mind. Just like Miranda does with her swimming.
Connections: “The Help”
One small connection in the book is the election. One of the characters in the book is running for a representative title, and it reminds my of the presidential election. The running for president is in motion, and it can get very intense, making people stressed, upset, uptight, ect. In this book, Mrs. Hilly’s husband is trying to get in the government and she is very stressed out, and picking fights with her friends. Also Mrs. Hilly is almost positive that her husband will win, and that is what happens in a lot of elections. Someone will think that they will win, or whoever they are rooting for will win, and it can change in a second.
Personal connection
I started ready “Twenty Boy Summer” again and the character I make a personal connection with is defiantly Frankie. She’s one of the main characters in this book. I make a personal connection with her because right now she is blocking people and she just wants to get left alone in a way. That is after her brother died. My brother didn’t die but i know what it feels like to be shut out.
“Beautiful Creatures” Connection
I recently finished “Beautiful Creatures” by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl. This book really reminded me of another book that I have read called “Ruined”. Beautiful creatures is about a boy named Ethan. He lives in a town called Gatlin, South Carolina, where people who are different are exiled. A life long residence of Gatlin, Ethan hopes to one day escape the judgmental ways of he town members. When town shut-in Old Man Ravenwood`s niece, Lena, moves in with him, she is immediately shut out. When strange things start happening, everyone tries to run her out of town. But Ethan and Lena have a deep connection, and Ethan can`t help wanting her to stay. In Ruined, Rebecca, whose dad must go on an unexpected business trip to Tokyo, Japan, must move from her home town New York to New Orleans, Luisiana. She, just like Lena, is immediately exiled. Everyone here has generations of ancestors before them that have lived in the same exact houses with the same neighbors. Anton, an insider since his great-great-great-great grandfather, sees how Rebecca is treated, but can’t fight an entire town alone. Everyone wants Rebecca gone. But, Anton knows the real reason Rebecca is exiled, and it`s not because she`s an outsider, it`s because her father used to be the leader of the neighborhood. Anton wants her to stay, but no one else does. Both of these books have a similar plot line. A new girl arrives, a popular boy has a connection with her and tries to make her stay, but both of these stories also have magic in common. A large part has to do with ghosts and magic and charms. When I started reading “Beautiful Creatures”, I immediately knew that I would like it. It was so alike to “Ruined”, and I loved “Ruined” so I knew I would love “Beautiful Creatures”.
Book connection
Both Alton and I have eight year old sisters and I know how they can be annoying and yet loving. Both of our sisters want to learn to do what we can do. Alton and I both had great grandmothers who were institutionalized in psyciatric facilities. And neither of us knew our great grandmothers.
