Homework
Each Monday Reading Logs will go home. Students pass in these reading logs each Friday. On Fridays, students will get the chance to share their thoughts about the reading selections on the reading logs.
Students receive math homework each night (except on Fridays) to be completed and returned the next day.
Here are some things to remember to help your child be successful in completing their homework.
Homework
- Students receive homework assignments in the "Things to Return Side" of their Go Home Folders. They pass it in the next day by keeping it in their folder.
- Students receive math homework each night (except on Fridays.)
- Please ensure that you or another adult reads to your child for at least 15 minutes each day. Later in the year students will begin writing these reading selections in homework reading logs. Please help to prepare them by reviewing the title and author of each reading selection.
All About Alby
Alby is the classroom teddy bear. Student names are picked at random from the Alby tin on Tuesdays and Fridays. Alby gets to spend two days with each student. Be sure to write about your adventures with Alby in his journal. Students read their journal entries to the class before picking the next name. Alby's journal is already filled with descriptions of his many adventures on island and off island. Alby has even visited New York already!
~Thank you in advance for your investment in your child's education. Together we are off to a fun, fabulous school year!~
Math Game: Partners to Ten
This is a fantastic math game aimed to strengthen knowledge of partners to ten. Encourage your child to understand and recognize partners to 10 by asking questions such as: 9 plus what is 10?
Since our number system is a base ten number system, this game will be helpful in laying a foundation to create a strong number sense.
