Share: Share in 3C is an opportunity for us to get to know each member of our classroom a little better. It is a time to share individual experiences or memories, or show us something homemade. Talking shares are also welcome where you might not have an object, but you want to tell us a true story about yourself. Share is encouraged, but not required. There will not be a share schedule this year, rather an opportunity to share daily if students have somethign they are excited to tell the class about.

Snack: we have fruit offered from the cafeteria if a snack is not packed. You may pack a small healthy snack for the morning and afternoon times for your child, if not, they will be offered a piece of fruit.

Birthdays: if your child has a birthday coming up and you would like to send in a treat, please see me if you are unsure if it meets appropriate healthy eating criteria issued by the state of Massachusetts.

Celebrations: the children work to fill up a jar of cubes by "getting caught" being good citizens, making safe/ quick transitions, and working hard. Once the jar is filled, we will plan and vote on celebrations throughout the year! (I wonder how many we will squeeze in this year!)

Folders: please help your child to remember to check the homework folder every night for important notices.

As always, please don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions/ general concerns.

Sincerely,

Ms. (Summer) Clements

About Ms. Clements: I was born and raised in Oak Bluffs where my love for teaching was fostered. I started out as an assistant in 6th 7th and 8th grade at the Oak Bluffs School. I went on to complete my Masters degree in Education in a wonderful on-island cohort through Wheelock College. I was lucky to complete my student teaching in the third grade with two amazing teachers! My first year as lead teacher in a well-structured first grade classroom at the Oak Bluffs School was when I took over for my own second grade teacher, Mrs. Jones. My next move brought me to the Tisbury School where I had another fabulous first grade classroom and an amazing group of colleagues. Now, I sit in nostaligia looking back at another accomplished year at the Edgartown School. The students, parents, staff, and administration really make this place a top notch school that I feel lucky to be a part of. Here's to another year of fun learning! p.s. I was married in September and am now officially Mrs. DeSouza, but feel free to continue calling me Ms. Clements for the year and any time after that :)...More news to come Feb. 2017...

About Mrs. Hurley: Mrs. Hurley comes to us from the fourth grade classrooms where she supported students last year, she brings lots of knowledge and expertise to third grade and is a mom of two wonderfully polite Edgartown School children.  Welcome Mrs. Hurley, we are lucky to have you :)!!
