PARCC testing continues this week and next with our 5th and 6th graders. The students tell me that they are challenged by the multi-step problems but find taking the test on computers easier than expected.
Parent conference signups are underway for April 9, 13 and 15. If the schedule cannot fit you in, please give Paulee, our receptionist, a call and she will see if the teacher(s) can find time outside of the conference schedule for you to meet.
Last evening, our PTA held its first annual Summer Camp Information Night. Ten summer camps were represented with over thirty parents attending. This is a great idea and gives us inspiration to hold this event again next year.
Edgartown's Annual Town Meeting is on Tuesday, April 14 at 7pm in the Old Whaling Church. Please plan to attend this meeting to support education. On the warrant are four articles for the school, the school budget, along with the shared services and high school budgets. The four articles are; $51,765.00 to pay for an additional kindergarten teacher this year, $20,000 to top off the oil tank as we used more oil than expected this year to heat the school, $30,000 to resurface the gym floor, and $100,000 to replace the emergency generator here at the school which supplies electricity when this building serves as an emergency shelter. I hope you can make this important meeting!
