WHO WE ARE & HOW YOU CAN GET INVOLVED

Mission:  The Edgartown School Parent Teacher Association (PTA) organizes activities promoting a fun and healthy school community that fosters strong relationships between parents, teachers, and students.  Through our events, we also raise funds that contribute to key programs for our school.  Please join us!  Read the announcements and check out the calendar for upcoming events.

Meetings:  The PTA holds a monthly meeting on the 2nd Tuesday of every month starting at 8:20am in the faculty dining room.  If you have a topic that you would like to introduce to the PTA and present during the open discussion, please email Becky Hegarty (rjbhegarty (at) yahoo.com) or feel free to submit request to the PTA mailbox in the main office before the 1st Tuesday of each month.

The next PTA meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, February 14th, starting at 8:20am in the faculty dining room.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

The Edgartown School Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) is pleased to announce that we are becoming a Parent Teacher Association (PTA).  This is an exciting change for our organization, as it allows us to tap into state and national PTA resources to better serve our school and students.  PTA is the nation's original parent group in schools, supporting and encouraging millions of parents to get involved in their children's education.

We are seeking charter members to officially kick off our PTA chapter.  The charter membership is $7 per individual, or $10 per teacher and spouse/partner couple.  This annual membership will enable our current board to begin the process of connecting with state resources and to plan a formal PTA kickoff for Fall 2012. Your membership does not commit you to monthly meetings or active involvement, unless you wish.

Please join us today!  Simply return the form on the back of the letter you received in your child's folder, or download from the file cabinet below, to the PTA Mailbox in the front office with your check made out to "The Edgartown School PTA" by January 31st.  Should you have any questions about the PTA, please contact Becky Hegarty, PTA President 2011-2012.  (email:  rjbhegarty (at) yahoo.com)


Scholastic Book Fair –  Thank you for your participation in this year's book fair!  (November 30th - December 7th)   Your support greatly helps our teachers and children!  Big appreciation goes out to our school librarian Ashley Lambacher and also to Kathy Pogue for orchestrating all the volunteer efforts.  For more information on the book fair, please visit the Scholastic WEBSITE or contact Ashley Lambacher at the library.


Meadow View Farms Fundraiser - Thank you to all who contributed!  The proceeds are going to purchase new equipment for the athletic department, including:

  • 6 adjustable hurdles
  • 25 volleyball t-shirts
  • 30 track and field shirts
  • 4 batons

Thank you for supporting "The Leaves are Falling" fall fundraiser.  Your donations will help improve our School Garden program!  Donations benefit the school garden supplies and programs throughout the year.
