Welcome to Sixth Grade!

Math: We are beginning our unit on Area and Surface Area.

We will:

• Calculate the area of parallelograms and triangles.
• Calculate the area of polygons by decomposing them into rectangles and triangles or by enclosing and subtracting.
• Describe the relationship between a base of a parallelogram or triangle and its corresponding height using mathematically precise language.
• Analyze strategies for determining the area of polygons using mathematically precise language.

Science: We are beginning our studies of Earth and Space.

We will complete work on:

• Earth’s Systems
• Earth’s Place in the Universe
• Moon and Tides
• Moon Journals
